"Young Archies" - Focus Topic for Art Classes Term 1 2025 Each term, we develop a set of lesson plans based on a new topic to keep your child engaged. The term topic supports learning of techniques and artistic styles presented in the context of an art movement or famous artist Introducing a fresh topic each term enhances student interest and engagement, accelerating the learning process. The Topic for Term 1 2025 is “Young Archies” where the students will prepare an entry for the Art Gallery of NSW Annual Young Archies portrait competition. In the “Young Archies” topic, students will focus on creating meaningful and personal portraits as they prepare entries for the prestigious annual Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) Young Archie competition. This competition celebrates young artists aged 5–18, challenging them to capture the essence of someone special in their lives, such as a family member, friend, or someone who inspires them. Throughout the term, students will study the styles and techniques of renowned Australian artists, including Margaret Olley, Brett Whiteley, and Del Kathryn Barton. They will learn how to use intricate detail and storytelling, bold and expressive compositions, and vibrant, symbolic designs to bring their portraits to life. By the end of the program, each student will have completed a finished portrait ready for submission to the Young Archie competition. This experience not only provides an opportunity to showcase their skills on a prestigious platform but also encourages them to express their individuality and creativity, celebrating their unique artistic voices.

Early exposure to visual art promotes activity and development in the brain. Art lessons greatly encourage and nurture valuable life skills through fun, creative, learning activities. Les Petits Painters offers art lessons to stimulate young people’s minds and develop them mentally, socially, physically (dexterity, coordination, observation), and emotionally. Children will acquire skills through new techniques and processes using a wide range of tools, learn about new materials, and create projects that express their thoughts and personality. Join us for a fun-filled Summer Holiday Kids Art and Craft program running every week from December 16th to December 31st! Monday: Enjoy creative sessions at the Federal Hall from 10 AM to 1 PM for ages 6-12. Tuesday: In Bangalow, we have a morning session from 10 AM to 12 PM for ages 4-6, followed by Art Club from 1 PM to 4 PM for ages 6-12. Wednesday: Join the Tweens Art Class in Bangalow from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. In these sessions, kids will explore painting, watercolours, crafts, clay, and drawing while practicing mindfulness and building a new creative community. HOLIDAY ART & CRAFT CLASSES for Primary school attending children 5.5 - 12 YEARS We offer a diverse range of art lessons during school holidays: drawing, painting, printmaking & sculpture.​ All primary school attending children are eligible for holiday classes. Preschoolers are NOT accepted into our holiday program. Programs are uploaded to the START ART SCHOOL website 4 weeks prior to school holidays. CLASS SIZES A maximum of 12 children per art class AGE Children must be attending Primary school and be at least 5.5 years old to attend classes. SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM DATES - 2025 AUTUMN : 14 April - 24 April WINTER : 7 July - 18 July SPRING : 29 September - 10 October CHRISTMAS : 15 - 22 December ​ TIMES AM CLASS: 9.30am-12.30pm & PM CLASS: 1.30pm-4.30pm Lunchtime supervision is provided for children staying a full day at no additional charge. In this workshop, you'll dive into the world of sensory play with our Cloud Dough making class. Learn how to make the dough step by step and then enjoy playtime with it. This hands-on experience promises heaps of fun for children, allowing them to engage their senses in a unique and creative way. Gain the skills to create cloud dough from scratch Learn the process step by step Enjoy playtime with the dough We'll guide you through the class, providing all the materials you need to create your own cloud dough masterpiece. The experience may feel tactile, soothing, and engaging as you explore the different textures and possibilities of the dough. Delight in the joy of sensory play and watch as your imagination comes to life through this fun and educational activity. Knowledge required No prior experience needed! Just a love for hands-on fun and a desire to get messy while creating something magical. What to bring Attendees need: Ingredients: Corn Flour, hair conditioner (we used apple-scented), poster paint (we used pink) Equipment: Mixing bowls, spoons, 1 cup and 1/2 cup measuring cups. Workspace: A clean, spacious area for mixing and playing. Creativity: An open mind and a willingness to explore!

Ages 5-16. 12 Students Max. Williamstown Community Center - Joan Kirner House. Fridays: 3:45-4:45pm.* Please join us as we explore: Color theory, shapes, values, drawing and painting techniques and general fun drawing and painting. Students will aim to complete a piece each week to bring home.

Come along and join us at Lisa's Little Stars Craft Club. We run educational art and craft classes for children at an affordable price. $ 15 per class per child. Every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. 4pm until 5.30pm. Drop the kids off while you catch up with a friend for a coffee, We supervise and teach the children in a home based business and family friendly learning environment.
