TERM ART LESSONS for 6 - 12 year olds Fun and informative art classes that stretch the imagination, with the aim to teach new art skills and share a passion for creativity. Children will receive individual attention & creative guidance in developing and expressing their artistic self-confidence, in classes that art fun and process driven. Each term introduces a range of new and exciting art activities. "Young Archies" - Focus Topic for Art Classes Term 1 2025 Each term, we develop a set of lesson plans based on a new topic to keep your child engaged. The term topic supports learning of techniques and artistic styles presented in the context of an art movement or famous artist Introducing a fresh topic each term enhances student interest and engagement, accelerating the learning process. The Topic for Term 1 2025 is “Young Archies” where the students will prepare an entry for the Art Gallery of NSW Annual Young Archies portrait competition. In the “Young Archies” topic, students will focus on creating meaningful and personal portraits as they prepare entries for the prestigious annual Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) Young Archie competition. This competition celebrates young artists aged 5–18, challenging them to capture the essence of someone special in their lives, such as a family member, friend, or someone who inspires them. Throughout the term, students will study the styles and techniques of renowned Australian artists, including Margaret Olley, Brett Whiteley, and Del Kathryn Barton. They will learn how to use intricate detail and storytelling, bold and expressive compositions, and vibrant, symbolic designs to bring their portraits to life. By the end of the program, each student will have completed a finished portrait ready for submission to the Young Archie competition. This experience not only provides an opportunity to showcase their skills on a prestigious platform but also encourages them to express their individuality and creativity, celebrating their unique artistic voices.

Early exposure to visual art promotes activity and development in the brain. Art lessons greatly encourage and nurture valuable life skills through fun, creative, learning activities. Les Petits Painters offers art lessons to stimulate young people’s minds and develop them mentally, socially, physically (dexterity, coordination, observation), and emotionally. Children will acquire skills through new techniques and processes using a wide range of tools, learn about new materials, and create projects that express their thoughts and personality. HOLIDAY ART & CRAFT CLASSES for Primary school attending children 5.5 - 12 YEARS We offer a diverse range of art lessons during school holidays: drawing, painting, printmaking & sculpture.​ All primary school attending children are eligible for holiday classes. Preschoolers are NOT accepted into our holiday program. Programs are uploaded to the START ART SCHOOL website 4 weeks prior to school holidays. CLASS SIZES A maximum of 12 children per art class AGE Children must be attending Primary school and be at least 5.5 years old to attend classes. Yes we teach your child HOW to draw & paint! Right from the foundations of technical and structural drawing. Covering all the basics, from line, shape, tone and form. To more advanced drawing skills, including skeletons, anatomy, 3D, perspective, realism, still life and portraits. But our secret is we like the kids to draw and paint the subjects they love! We will teach them how to draw realistically, anime / manga or cartoons. All styles including fantastic fantasy art, Japanese style Manga and Mecha, Anime characters, dragons, robots, dinosaurs, creatures, super heroes, and animals. Whatever they love to draw and paint! On the 3rd Sunday of each month, except for January, Art Class Melbourne Australia, runs a very special workshop in the afternoon. Drawing and painting in this beautiful garden estate. 1pm - 5pm, $88. Feel free to do your own project or Lu will tailor one to suit you. BYO your own materials or buy from the Studio on the day. Open to all age groups. Children over 8 years of age are welcome on their own or with an adult doing the class too $88 each.
