Track Youth Theatre is a not for profit group that has been teaching the art of stagecraft to young people for over forty years. The group aims to help children, not just with the development of theatrical skills, but with more valuable life skills such as self-esteem, respect for others, and self-confidence in front of groups. Children are not auditioned. Anyone is eligible to join regardless of ability.
The group started in 1980 and produced its first production at the old Pumpkin Theatre in Richmond. Because of the size of the group, the following year we performed at the Renaissance Theatre at Kew High School and have been there ever since. Our workshops and rehearsals are held at "The Basement" at Hawthorn Arts Centre.
We typically have 40 children, with a junior group and teenage group. The age range is based on school years with Juniors aged Year 4 to Year 7 and Teenagers from Year 8 to Year 10.
