Townsville Academy of Performing Arts (TAPA) is a performing arts studio offering dance classes for students from age 2. With a diverse range of dance styles, including Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Irish, Highland, Acro Dance, Music & Movement (mummy and me for 2 years+) Song & Dance (for our 3 years+) and new in 2017 Ready Set Dance programmes.
We provide quality training from our experienced, qualified teachers who aim to inspire a love of dance and the arts, have fun, be creative, while nurturing and respecting the uniqueness of each student and assisting them to reach their own personal potential. Our Unique mix of energy and creativity advances the dance art form and fuels the dance world, connecting people to the exhilarating possibilities that dance offer. Our links with the professional dance world, local community and other organizations ensure that an experience at TAPA will be rich and rewarding one.In 2014 TAPA introduced 19 students to the Montenegro Dance Festival (the first ever Australians to attend this festival) for an experience of a life time. Competing with dancers from Russia, South Africa, Croatia, Italy, Norway, Spain, Ukraine, Belgium and Hungary, these excited young people came home with the GRAND PRIX PRIZE.
In 2016 students experienced various styles of dance workshops and productions while in Los Angeles and New York. We will return in 2018 to USA with a new excited group of students to immerse them in all things dance and perform in Disney Parade while our Highland Students travel to Scotland and England for Highland games and danced adventures.
Many incredible opportunities are presented to our students to learn from both interstate and overseas teachers/choreographers. We often travel to interstate workshops and dance studios and/or bring world class teachers/choreographers to us. It is always refreshing to have a guest teacher/choreographer comment on the good solid technique and dance etiquette our students possess.
