Description
As a club we have been in existence since 1983. And as such have trained many students in that time. We have had a number of students who have competed extensively throughout Australia on the State Team, plus 2 of our students have gone on to represent Australia overseas on the National Team.
We teach a mixture of Self Defence, Tournament and Traditional Karate. The main requirements are, you must be at least 8 years old.
We train over the school holidays, with the exception of Christmas. We are also a "Sports Voucher" provider.
We are members of the AKF SA inc. (Australian Karate Federation) which is the only Government recognised organisation in Australia, and have been for many years. So our club is a registered club. The AKF is also a member of the IOC (International Olympic Committee).
We are also members of Seishikan Japan under the instruction of Kancho Shohei Tada, and also Seishikan Australia, whose head is Shihan Phil Bates, who is the head of the Australian organisation.

    Fantastic Dojo
    My 10 year old son started Karate at the beginning of the year. It wasn’t long before his growth in confidence and ability to focus was noticeable. These qualities have been helpful in schooling- I’m sure it’s no coincidence that his grades have also improved. Sensei Derek is very patient and explicit in his teachings. My younger son and I have since joined.

    I joined the club 6 months after my son and have enjoyed it immensely ever since. Derek is a fantastic instructor with a great amount experience and enthusiasm. From my experience, everyone is always made welcome and it’s a great environment with fantastic facilities. If you are interested in Karate, I highly recommend the Salisbury Karate Club.

    A great Dojo
    Shihan Derek has created a fun, structured and friendly Karate Dojo. Our son joined 1 year ago and has thoroughly enjoyed it and now his dad has also joined and brother and sister are waiting to once they get older! Thanks Shihan Derek for the great learning opportunities!

    3 years ago I enrolled my 10 yr boy who was worried about bullies in school. 3 years later I have a 13 yr who is now confident about school and life in general. Well done to Shihan Derek
