Description

The Richmond Water Polo Club was established in 1921 and has a proud tradition of supporting community involvement and sporting excellence in Melbourne. We warmly welcome prospective members from around Melbourne both experienced and new to the sport.

Teams currently entered into the Water Polo Victoria competitions are U12 Mixed, U14, U16 & U18 Boys and Girls as well as both women's and men's State League teams.

Richmond send teams to tournaments around Victoria as well as interstate and to the National Youth Water Polo Championships each year providing our members opportunities to compete at all levels.

In addition to competition teams Richmond runs a training academy. The aim of this academy is to provide extra training to those wanting to focus on improving specific skills and strategies.

Competitions start in February, May and September. Training runs throughout the year. Prospective members are encouraged to contact the club via our website and come and meet us at a match or training session.

Water Polo for Beginners

Dates: from 18 Oct 2024 to 06 Dec 2024

Event price: $20 to $50, $50+

Price details: Full season (6 sessions) - $100 One session - $25

Age group accepted: 8-10 year olds, 10-12 year olds

Parental Supervision: Optional

Juniors 7-13 come and join our FlippaBall Competition in Term 4.

• Friday Nights starting October 18 (six rounds-Oct 18, 25, Nov 8, 22, 29, Dec 6)
• 6:45-7:45pm (dryland warm-up from 6:30pm)

What is FlippaBall?
FlippaBall is a modified, non-contact social competition designed for children aged 13 and under. It’s an adaptation of Water Polo, featuring a shorter season, modified equipment, and additional rules aimed at encouraging fun and fundamental skill development.
Ideal for newcomers to the sport, FlippaBall offers a stepping stone before transitioning to club age group competitions. Its objectives include;
▪️ Providing a safe and age-appropriate introduction to water polo.
▪️ Teaching Water Polo skills, movements, and strategies to young players.
▪️ Ensuring that all participants, regardless of skill level have the opportunity to play.

Above all, FlippaBall prioritises FUN, social interaction, inclusivity, and safety for all involved.

  Have been wanting to get my kids started with water polo and these guys have been super responsive. Went to a training session and they loved it.
