Learn the music you want to learn, from a qualified teacher and experienced musician, with lessons catered to the individuals needs. Learning an instrument is much more than just knowing how to play the notes, my lessons are also focused on building the student's musicianship and creating a well rounded understanding of music from many angles.

Laura is a vocalist, professional performer and songwriter with a Bachelor Degree in Music (Contemporary Performance) from The Australian Institute of Music, Associate Degree in Performance from The Conservatorium of Music (TAS), and 5 years teaching experience.

Laura has been classically trained in piano since she was 5 years old, and at the age of 12 also began to incorporate a more contemporary approach to her playing, focusing around accompaniment, chord progressions & structure, jazz theory and aural skills. At the age of 15 she began vocal training, and then went on to major in contemporary singing at University.

About:
As a music teacher I pride myself on the fact that I have a broad education background in music; I am not set on just classical or just contemporary, I have explored many styles and teaching methods and will always continue to develop myself as a teacher and musician. I believe my personal experience in music has lead to my philosophy on how I teach - I believe that no student should be shown how to do something, rather they should be given all of the tools they need to be able to construct the 'how' for themselves. This helps them develop initiative, responsibility and independence as a musician and also develops their confidence in their own musical abilities.
