'Visharadha' Smt. Christina Prakanthan offers classes in Indian Classical Dance - Bharathanatyam. She has over 30 years of training in the Art form from eminent Gurus from SriLanka and India. She has been teaching in Melbourne for the past 12 years. Ms. Prakanthan has served as a the inaugural President of the Bharathanatya Acharya (Dance Teachers) Association of VIC (BAAVA), which runs annual dance exams Victoria. Christina is a Community Leader of the Melton city council and a board member of the Intercultural advisory committee, Melton. Natyatharu School of Dance is affiliated to Dr J Jayalalitha University, a UGC certified State University in India. The school offers university certified Bharathanatyam exams and certification programmes.
The students of Natyatharu sit for dance exams annually and perform at various cultural events. The teacher Christina Prakanthan is an active performer. She performs widely, collaborates with other artists and is a regular performer at the Chennai Margazhi season.
She has completed a Teachers Training Diploma in Bharathanatyam at Dr.Lakshmi Ramaswamy's Srimudralaya, Chennai. Christina holds a Masters Degree in Bharathanatyam under the prestigious Madras University in First class.
