Looking for something different to do in Canberra?

The National Dinosaur Museum offers a trip into our prehistoric past like no other. With Australia’s largest permanent display of dinosaur fossils and models, guests of all ages will learn something new about these fascinating creatures and the world they inhabited.

Through self-guided exploration, visitors are encouraged to delve into the long and unique prehistory of Australia through our interactive exhibits. Learn how dinosaurs throughout the world lived and thrived for over a 150 million years on our planet before their eventual extinction. Walk through more than 600 million years of geologic time on our planet and discover how life has evolved and changed over time.

Visitors to the museum are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the interactive activities that are on offer, such as touching a 500 million year old fossil, a 150kg meteorite, or even a piece of 100 million year old dinosaur dung! Special activities are run during school holiday periods and our friendly staff are always happy to answer any questions from aspiring palaeontologists. Group programs are also available, the most popular are guided tours of the museum run by knowledgeable tour guides. Bookings are essential for group programs.

Our extensive gift shop houses a large collection of unique Australian fossil and mineral specimens. With everything from books to toys and puzzles for sale, as well as a large selection of unique and handmade jewellery, there is something for every member of the family.
