Kumataka Dojo Epping is one of two Kumataka dojos in the Sydney metro area teaching and practising martial arts (Jujutsu) and martial sports (Judo and Karate)

Established in 1969 at the School of the arts hall in Oxford St, Epping, Kumataka Dojo Epping (formerly Lotus Dojos 3, Soruishi-ryu Australias' Epping Dojo) has been teaching Judo, Karate and Ju Jutsu to the local community for over 50 years. The lead sensei Peter Williams has been teaching at Epping since the 80's.

Judo classes
This dojo offers classes for Juniors (7 to 14) and seniors (14 to 65) on Monday and Thursday evenings. Students and practitioners of Judo must be registered with Judo NSW.

Karate classes
This dojo offers Karate classes for Juniors (7 to 14) and seniors (14 to 65) on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Jujutsu classes
Martial Arts practice (Jujutsu) is subject to ability &/or grades in the martial sports (Judo & Karate) as the prerequisite. Recognized prior learning (RPL) entry to Jujutsu classes available on application. Demonstration of prior learning is essential, as well as sensei introduction.

All instructors at Kumataka Dojos have WWCC, senior first aid certificates and/or NCAS (National Coaching Accredditation Scheme) or CAF level 1 certificates.

Each art is affiliated with either State/National or International organisations. Participants are required to join the relevant association. e.g Judo NSW for a Judo practicioner or Judoka

Instructors stay current through education offerings from the various bodies. e.g. attendance to the JFA National Coaches Seminar, attending BBRA (Black Belt Register) Kata classes, etc

Kumataka Instructors, and some students, travel to central and southern Japan on a regular basis and have strong ties with various organisations and their members. e.g.Tokyo/Kodokan for Judo, Fukuoka/Sekiryukan and SJJK (Sosuishi-ryu Ju Jutsu Kai) for Jujutsu, Ryukyu Islands.(Okinawa) for Karate.

Kumataka Dojos Epping is located in the Epping School of Arts hall, 5-9 Oxford St, Epping.

Kumataka Dojos Epping is an Epping RSL Youth Club activity. The Epping RSLYC is an approved Active Kids provider, so we can now accept the vouchers.
