Where: Feb/March we play at Anderson Park, East Hawthorn
April- Sept: We train at Highfield Park, Camberwell (South oval) and play home games Saturdays at Lewin Reserve, Glen Iris.

Why: Because it's a great fun game, played all over the world by boys and girls, that instils values and builds lifelong friendships like no other sport.

At Kiwi Hawthorn Junior Rugby, were all about having fun, making new friends and enjoying the great game of Rugby Union.

Our overarching philosophy is that rugby is about building character.
Of course the kids come because:

- it's easy to learn and great fun to play
- they enjoy making new friends
- rugby is a game for all shapes and sizes
- they get plenty of game time, because we have small teams and everyone gets a go

But parents love our club too because we all agree that sport is a trojan horse that gets some great life lessons into kids without the lecture. Our boys and girls learn that in rugby, as in life:

- everyone has more fun if we all play fairly
- respect the referee and abide by his/her judgements
- everyone, regardless of their size, shape or background, is vital to the success of the team
- teams can accomplish so much more than individuals
- play for the success of your teammates as much as yourself
- sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, what matters most is the spirit in which you play the game
- you are going to get knocked over, but you CAN get up and play on!

The best!

I came across this club randomly as I was looking for a way for my son to burn some energy. I knew nothing about rugby neither did my son, but it didn’t matter. Everyone is so welcoming, and on top of the rugby he learns via amazing coaching, I am mostly blown away by the great values and atmosphere of the club/volunteers.

Great team spirit

The kids develop a strong support for one another very early on and give encouragement and positive reinforcing with each game.

A great job

The leadership of the KWJRC is an amazingly committed bunch of men and women. It is a joy to see the kids develop in an environment fostering all the core values of Rugby Union. It is also a treat to see these leaders focus on the inclusion of girls and women. Love it.

Great Club!!

My son has played at Kiwi Hawthorn Junior Rugby Club and the support of coaches and his team mates is absolutely fantastic. I came from an AFL background, but I am certainly a convert now having been a part of this great club.

Very inclusive club

Kiwi Hawthorn Junior Rugby Club has been a very welcoming and inclusive club for our 4yr old son in his first year of rugby union. Communication and coaching has been great and even though our 4yr old is the youngest in the team by a few years, coaches have found ways to include him in games so that he enjoys and looks forward to each game..

Awesome fun and team spirit

Kiwi Hawthorn is an amazing club, encouraging the girls and boys to have fun. The development of skills is just another benefit that they learn, without even knowing it. The coaches are extremely committed and approachable. Here lies the evidence of strong rugby team values, within a small rugby community.

Best Community Club in Melbourne

The participation of families within this club is wonderful. Everyone is included and supported to love and enjoy the game. The coaches are nurturing, enthusiastic and awesome team builders. The kids are interactive, enjoying themselves and learning how to play great Rugby! Would not find a better club to be a part of!
