IsIce Skating a great activity for your kid(s)?
Do your kids have energy to burn? Don’t want to exercise in the heat? Ice skating might be the sport for them! Your kids can get plenty of exercise, develop lower body and core strength and keep cool at the same time.
Other benefits of ice skating may be:
Improved sense of balance
Can improve posture
Great social activity
Good opportunity for Aussie kids to get involved in a cold weather winter sport when it’s hot outdoors
Low impact so there may be less risk of injuries compared with other, higher impact sports
Is your child afraid of getting a few bumps and bruises? Although ice skating is generally considered safe, the odd fall is inevitable so if your child is the nervous type they may be better suited to kids activities that are a bit more stable.
Get your kid to start learning Ice Skating!
Not sure what age to start? Kids as young as three can have a go at ice skating on an indoor rink although they probably won’t have the co-ordination to perform any sophisticated moves until they are at least four or five. It is a good idea to stay within arm’s reach of very young children, or hold their hand until they are confident skaters.
Is your child interested in learning more? Group beginners ice skating lessons are available at most ice rinks and will generally cost around $15 - $30 per lesson which includes skate hire. Individual tuition costs more but is good for kids who are a bit older or more experienced and want to take their skill development seriously.
Are you worried on your child getting injured? Concerned parents can buy protective gear including helmets and knee pads to help safeguard against injuries. Don’t forget to outfit your child to stay warm but keep clothing layered and lightweight so it doesn’t impede your child’s movement.
If your child is not the figure skating type, there are plenty of other activities for kids at the ice skating rink. Ice hockey is a fast and highly competitive sport and speed skating is becoming increasingly popular. Many ice rinks hold social events such as ice discos and parties as a chance for kids to have fun and make new friends.
Ice Skating stars and events not to be missed?
The Australian figure skating championships are held in December every year and are a great chance to see local stars such as National 2010 figure skating champion and Olympic team member Cheltzie Lee in action.
Get your kids involved in this great sport for a chance to have fun and improve their fitness!

Is rollerblading a great activity for you kids?
Rollerblading for kids is a popular activity among toddlers and older kids today. It falls under the category of extreme sports, along with other kids activities like skateboarding for kids, ice skating, BMX biking, and snowboarding. It can be done outdoors during nice weather, or indoors, at skating rinks and sports centres. Rollerblading, or inline skating, is also a fun activity for the family, and a healthy activity that provides plenty of exercise.
What are the benefits that kids activities such as rollerblading can give to your children?
Rollerblading as a form of exercise Rollerblading can help strengthen and tone the thighs, calves, and hamstrings. Your kids can also get a great cardiovascular workout from rollerblading. Other health benefits that you can get from this activity include calorie burning, developing better balance, coordination, and agility.
Introduction to other sports Rollerblading can lead to many other sporting opportunities. There are rollerblading competitions but you can also introduce your kids to other sports that involve rollerblading or skating such as hockey and ice skating. The balance and coordination they acquired from rollerblading are also useful in other activities like biking, skateboarding, and snowboarding.
Mental wellbeing Rollerblading is fun and can give children the sense of accomplishment and mental wellbeing. Your kids can also feel a great sense of freedom while on rollerblades. When an activity is fun, the more you will enjoy it and practise it, and the more you will gain benefits from it.
Get your kids to start rollerblading!
To get started with rollerblading, there are rollerblading classes or programs that can teach your kids along with other children in a safe and friendly environment. If you want to teach them yourself, there are available videos and resources that tell you how to teach kids rollerblading. Learning together is great way to spend time together. Whether an experienced skater or a first timer, you need to make sure that your kids are aware of the safety rules. Make sure that they know how to stop safely, and to skate only on flat, paved surfaces.
Visit our ActiveActivities directory for available rollerblading school holiday programs and sport centres. All of the programs we have listed are recognized and are certified by Skate Australia, the governing body for all skating-based sports within Australia. We also have a list of skate shops where you can purchase rollerblading gear. Rollerblading safety gear consists of a helmet, elbow pads, wrist guards, and knee pads.
Rollerblading is a fun and healthy activity that should be encouraged with kids. Once they get in those inline skates, they might get addicted, but it’s a good and healthy kind of addiction!

The sport is considered today as one of the most fun activities for kids around the world, including Australia. Why don’t you and your children give rollerblading a try?

Will your kids enjoyRollerskating?
Are you looking for activities for kids that incorporate fun and great exercise? If they enjoy a challenge and don’t mind a fall or two why not try rollerskating? Whether your kids are theatrical, competitive or just like the sensation of speed rollerskating may have something to offer them. The benefits of rollerskating can include:
Improved fitness, particularly cardiovascular
Improved balance
Cheap - just purchase or hire skates and you’re on your way!
Versatile ? lots of different types of skating to try
Can be a great mode of transportation
It’s an outdoor and indoor activity
Social ? organised events such as roller discos allow kids to make new friends
There are two main types of rollerskates:
Quad skates (traditional roller boots with 4 wheels and a break on the front ? good for young kids and beginners)
Inline skates or roller blades (row of wheels down the middle of the skate and you stop by leaning back ? good for speed)
Rollerskating can be a great activity for kids from 3 years and up. It is important that kids wear appropriate safety gear when rollerskating including pads, knee guards and a helmet. Boots and safety gear can be bought or hired for a low fee. As far as kids activities go, rollerskating is quite inexpensive.
How can you organise Rollerskating lessons and activities for your kids?
Are you looking for somewhere your kids can learn to rollerskate and participate in rollerskating activities with supervision? As well as specialised skate clubs many leisure centres offer rollerskating lessons and events such as roller discos, roller derbys and sporting events. Lessons usually cost around $10-$20 per session and casual visits to a skating rink is around $5-$10 a session. Once kids have a good level of control over their skates they might like to take to the ramp or skate park or get involved in events such as roller hockey or inline speed skating. With so many different rollerskating activities to choose from your child will never get bored!

Will Your Kids Enjoy Playing the Trombone?
Does your child love music? If they want to learn to play an instrument that is challenging and fun they might enjoy playing the trombone. The trombone is a popular instrument and a fixture in the symphony orchestra. There will be plenty of trombone based activities for kids and opportunities for your child to perform and show off their trombonist skills in their school band or orchestra. That’s what makes it really rich in terms of variety: slow and very classical or rhythmic and jazzy, your child will definitely find the way to play it the way they like!
Other benefits might include:
Improved creativity through music
Can promote co-ordination
Develops musical ear as children have to listen out for the right pitch
Playing in a band can enhance social skills and give kids a chance to make new friends
Playing a musical instrument may help kids with language development
Is your child too young to play the trombone? Usually kids start playing around 5 or 6 but they can start younger. If your child isn’t ready, you can always teach them the recorder or another wind instrument to let them get the idea before they progress to the trombone.
How Can You Organise Trombone Lessons and Events for Your Kids?
Finding a trombone teacher doesn’t have to be a hassle! Check in our ActiveActivities Directory for your closest music teacher or trombone class. Trombone lessons usually start at around $60 per hour for private tuition and less for group classes. You can find other musical kids activities in the Performing Arts section of our directory.
Your child will need a trombone of their own to practise with and you can either purchase or rent an instrument. Renting is probably the most cost effective option in the beginning and it gives your child a chance to get a feel for the instrument before you make a financial commitment. Trombones come in different shapes and sizes. There are two main types of trombone, tenor and bass and it is usually better for kids to start with a tenor instrument.
Other similar instruments that your child might enjoy playing include the trumpet, the horn and the tuba. With a bit of practise you could have your own brass band at home!

Physical Activity and Mental Wellness
Engaging in gymnastics at a young age introduces children to a world of physical activity that's not only enjoyable but also immensely beneficial for their mental wellness. Physical exercise triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals, promoting a positive mood and reducing stress and anxiety levels in children.
Skill Progression and Self-Esteem
Gymnastics is all about progression and mastering new skills. As children work their way up from basic moves to more complex routines, they gain a sense of achievement and improved self-esteem. Every successful flip, balance, or routine learned reinforces their belief in their capabilities, boosting their confidence to try new things both inside and outside the gym.
Overcoming Challenges and Resilience
Gymnastics presents a range of challenges, from conquering fears of heights to perfecting intricate routines. When children face and overcome these challenges, they develop resilience and learn how to cope with difficulties. This resilience becomes a valuable life skill, empowering them to handle obstacles with a positive mindset.
Teamwork and Social Skills
Many gymnastic centres and programs involve group activities and teamwork, encouraging children to interact with their peers. Learning to work effectively in a team setting fosters social skills such as communication, cooperation, and empathy. The camaraderie experienced in gymnastic Clubs helps children form strong bonds and provides a supportive community, enhancing their overall mental well-being.
Goal Setting and Discipline
In gymnastics, setting goals and working consistently towards achieving them is a fundamental aspect. This process instills discipline and teaches kids the importance of dedication and hard work. As they witness their progress and achievements through their gymnastics journey, they develop a growth mindset and learn to persevere, traits that will serve them well in all aspects of life.
Providing a Safe and Nurturing Environment
Gymnastic Centres and Clubs in Australia prioritize creating a safe, encouraging, and nurturing environment for children. Trained coaches and staff guide the young gymnasts, ensuring they feel supported and confident in their abilities. This supportive atmosphere is vital in promoting mental well-being and building a strong foundation for a child's self-assurance.
Encouraging Lifelong Physical Activity
Introducing your child to gymnastics at a young age can cultivate a lifelong love for physical activity. The positive experiences and mental health benefits associated with gymnastics may inspire children to stay active as they grow, promoting a healthier lifestyle and better mental well-being throughout their lives.
In conclusion, gymnastics goes beyond physical fitness; it's a holistic approach to nurturing a child's mental health and confidence. Gymnastic Centres and gymnastic Clubs in Australia provide an excellent platform for kids to embark on this incredible journey of self-discovery and growth. Embrace gymnastics as a way to support your child's overall development and lay the foundation for a happy, confident, and resilient future.

Why is Sydney a great place for your kids to go cycling?
The bustling city of Sydney is home to one of the world’s greatest bicycle infrastructure for recreational riding. Apart from the world-famous Sydney Olympic Park, the government has been making a huge investment on Sydney bike routes, such as bike paths in parks and other cycleways. Public roads, which are dominated by motor vehicles, are also braved by cycling commuters who participate in the government’s effort to influence the growth of completed bicycle trips - from point A to point B and back. Sydney most likely has the most impressive growth of cycle groups in Australia because of the weather and the many bike-friendly zones.
Suffice it to say, cycling in Sydney is a way of life. Whether it’s for play or for sport, cycling events in Sydney happen year-round. Look at the toddlers or children next door who spend all afternoon on neighbourhood bike races or the well-organised Sydney cycling competitions for kids and adults. There is so much to cycling in Sydney that you and your kids can enjoy!

Get your kids to start cycling in Sydney!
Is there a reason for you to be uncertain about activities for kids, such as cycling in Sydney? Like all the other good parents out there, who are constantly concerned about their kids’ health and safety, you must always consult your kids’ paediatrician. An illness, like asthma, may be a factor when not to consider cycling in Sydney, but there are times when a paediatrician would say, “Great idea!” Being proactive can be a good thing, but there’s a fine line between being proactive and babying your kids, so it’s best if you get the paediatrician’s opinion.
How much will cycling in Sydney going to cost you? For one, you don’t need to buy a bicycle for your kids because Sydney bike hire is common in various parks, and the cost is very minimal. However, owning a bike can be a really good investment. Do you need to enrol them in private cycling classes and lessons? Like they always say, parents are the best teachers, so find time in your schedule for a morning or an afternoon cycling with kids.

If you want your kids to start cycling in Sydney, here is what you need to look for in bike stores:
Age-specific Bicycles
Bike Shorts or Pants
Helmets
Jersey Shirts
Mitts or Gloves
Knee Pads
The other things you need which you’ll find at home are:
First Aid Kit
Rubber Shoes
Water Bottle
Enjoy the perfect weather of Sydney by going on a bike tour with your family! Meet and greet with other parents and children, and start your very own cycling group! Learn more about cycling in Sydney today by visiting ActiveActivities directory.

string(1451) "Not every game of cricket is a winner, but with the right preparation you can help your child to feel like a winner every time!
Little things can make a really big difference; from having the correct equipment in the right sizes for your kid - to encouraging them to practice early - these five tips will help you to encourage your child into the sport and ensure they feel supported and successful.
1. Make sure they have appropriate gear
The quick single: If they’ve got a bat that’s way to heavy for them, they won’t be able to bat properly or if they have pads that are too big and uncomfortable then it makes it hard to run.
While understandable, the thinking that getting children a bat and set of pads they can grow into is destructive.
Having a heavy bat without the strength to wield it often means children get swung by the bat, rather than swinging it themselves. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve seen a young batsman who can’t hit the ball powerfully because he can’t swing his bat. It takes all of his might to just get the bat moving!
The same goes for their protective equipment. Pads that are too big restrict movement and are difficult to run in. This promotes techniques with little footwork and also results in runouts.
"
["content"]=>
string(4482) "
2. Make sure they start practicing before season starts
The quick single: Technical changes take time to become instinctual, give your child enough time to embed them into their DNA before they need to perform them under the pressure of competition.
There is a saying that goes: “Olympians don’t hibernate for four years between Olympics.” The message here is simple. Successful athletes are the ones who have put in the hard yards before competition starts.
The offseason presents the same opportunity for cricketers. Four to six weeks before the season starts is a good amount of time for children to dust off the cobwebs and make sure they are ready to hit the ground running in their first match. This is important because performing well leads to confidence and that builds momentum for a cricketer. Sometimes it takes an individual half a season to overcome a form slump that started just because they weren’t prepared for the first match.
3. Start cricket coaching early enough so they can make changes before the season
The quick single: If you plan on getting coaching for your child, start six to eight weeks before the season starts. That way when the season starts the technical changes are second nature.
Olympians also use the four years between Olympics to become better athletes. Swimmers and runners spend time refining their techniques to try and pry time off of their personal best.
Smart cricketers use their offseason to do the same thing. This period is the perfect time to make any technical changes. Leaving it too late means that the child is trying a new skill during competition which will likely lead to failure and declining confidence.
Starting early means that children have a number of weeks to make the changes and get used to them before the new skills or techniques are put under the pressure of competition. 6-8 weeks out is a good amount of time to practice and embed changes into a cricketer’s DNA.
4. Get into a ‘winners’ Friday night routine
The quick single: Make sure your young cricketer is getting enough sleep. Studies have shown that sleep deprivation has a similar impact on decision making as alcohol consumption.
Some people spend thousands on their gear but ignore the most important bit of equipment they have got. It doesn’t matter how good an Olympic archer’s bow is if his body and mind aren’t in the best shape possible. The same is true of young cricketers.
Getting enough rest will have a noticeable impact on their decision making and concentration - the skills which are the beating heart of performance.
Get into a Friday night routine where they’re getting enough sleep the night before. According to the Sleep Foundation, school-aged children (6-13) should get between 9 - 11 hours of sleep and teenagers (14-17) should get between 8 - 10. Getting enough sleep is important as studies have shown that sleep deprivation has a similar impact on decision making as alcohol consumption.
5. Make sure they’re playing cricket for the right reason
The quick single: Make sure they are playing because they want to.
This is a big one. There are lots of very enjoyable way to spend Saturdays that don’t involve standing in 35 degree heat. Cricket is a big commitment. The average game goes from 6-8 hours, sometimes over a period of two or more days. Therefore it is really important that children want to be there. It is important to have a discussion with your child before the season starts about whether they want to be playing cricket. In some instances, children play only to keep their parents happy.
Give them the freedom to choose if they play or not and let them know that you will support whatever they choose. If they choose to play you can rest assured that you’ve done everything a supportive parent should.

1. Practicing yoga keeps us healthy – OK, there are no surprises there. It’s not just physical health. Practicing asana (yoga poses) and pranayama (breathing exercises) provides clarity of mind as well as keeping us fit.
2. Kids can feel uneasy or anxious during different stages of their lives. Through their practice of yoga they learn to remove fear, replacing it with contentment and this enables them to learn and grow through life’s experiences.
3. Yoga develops focus and concentration and this leads to kids looking after themselves. They pay more attention to areas such as their body posture and eating habits and this creates healthy kids. It also fosters determination to reach goals and this helps them to be the best version of themselves at home, school and in clubs.
4. Negative self-talk is present even in kids. Giving children dedicated time in a safe and nurturing environment allows them to reflect on themselves and release those self-destructive tendencies. It builds self-compassion and inner strength.
Kid’s yoga classes are becoming more accessible through childcare centres and schools running programs. Many yoga studios also offer regular kids classes. There are plenty of kid’s yoga teachers out there who, just like me, would love to share this wonderful gift of yoga with you and your family.

Why paddle sports in the Perth region is a great activity for your kids?
Paddle sports are one of the popular water sports that your kids can try in Perth beaches. Paddle sports include:
Stand-up paddle boarding
Stand-up paddle boarding is one of the latest paddle sports that are in with the kids today. People stand up on a board similar to a surf board while holding a paddle, almost like boating, but standing on a board instead of sitting on a boat. Stand-up paddle boarding is a nice way to just relax on the calm water while admiring the surroundings.
Paddling
Paddling includes canoeing and kayaking for beginners, and whitewater rafting for the more experienced and adventurous. A lot of people get confused with canoeing and kayaking. Most canoes are open boats, with canoeists sitting with their legs underneath them. The paddle used in canoeing only has one blade. Kayaks, on the other hand, are closed boats, with kayakers sitting on the floor of the boat with their legs in front of them. The paddle used in kayaking has blades on each side of the shaft.
Australian beaches are some of the most stunning beaches in the world, many of them found in Perth region. The beautiful sandy beaches of Perth have calm waters that are safe for swimming and paddle sports, but can also develop rips and strong currents that surfers can ride.
Cottesloe Beach
Rottnest Island
Scarborough Beach

It trains them to be always prepared for any situation they might face.
The Cubs programmes include kids activities that are done outdoors including cubs games, camping, woodcraft, first aid, swimming, hiking, and sports. For all the activities for kids that the cubs will complete, they will earn badges and special awards that will help them advance to the next level. These badges are called boomerangs and Grey Wolf Award. The boomerangs are acquired by completing mandatory activities from the Cub Scout Handbook ? the bronze boomerang for 8 year old cubs, the silver for 9 year old cubs, and the gold boomerang for the 10 year old cubs. The Grey Wolf Award is the highest level badge, similar to the Australian Scout Medallion. Cubs who received the gold boomerang and completed the Cub Leadership Award can receive the Grey Wolf Award. There are also other special badges. This is a fun way of keeping your kids active and busy. Let them be part of the Cubs!

Why Choose Themed Birthday Parties?
Before we dive into the planning details, let's explore why themed birthday parties are such a hit among kids and parents alike.
1. Immersive Experience: Themed parties allow children to step into a world of their dreams, whether it's a magical fairytale land, a superhero universe, or a space odyssey. This immersion creates lasting memories.
2. Creative Freedom: Themed parties provide endless opportunities for creativity. You can tailor decorations, activities, and even the cake to match the chosen theme.
3. Everyone Gets Involved: Guests can get into the spirit of the theme by dressing up, enhancing the overall atmosphere and sense of adventure.
4. Simplified Planning: Having a theme makes planning easier. You have a clear direction for decorations, games, and entertainment.
Choosing the Perfect Theme
The first step in creating an enchanting world for your child's birthday is choosing the right theme. Consider your child's interests and passions, and don't be afraid to ask for their input. Here are some popular party themes to get your creative juices flowing:
1. Princess or Fairy Tale: Perfect for young ones who adore princesses, knights, and magical creatures.
2. Superhero Extravaganza: Let your child become their favorite superhero for a day with capes, masks, and heroic adventures.
3. Jungle Safari: Explore the wild side with animal-themed decorations and jungle adventures.
4. Outer Space Adventure: Blast off into space with astronaut gear, rocket ship decor, and cosmic activities.
5. Pirate Party: Set sail for treasure with eye patches, pirate hats, and a treasure hunt.
6. Movie Magic: Choose your child's favorite movie or animated character for a star-studded celebration.
Finding the Perfect Party Venue
Selecting the right party venue is crucial to bringing your themed birthday party to life. You're spoiled for choice when it comes to party venues for children. Here are a few ideas:
1. Indoor Play Centers: These are a fantastic option, offering a safe and weather-proof environment with activities like slides, ball pits, and climbing walls.
2. Outdoor Parks: For a natural backdrop, consider hosting your party in a local park or botanical garden. It's perfect for themes like a jungle safari or fairy tale picnic.
3. Community Halls: If you prefer a DIY approach, renting a community hall can provide a blank canvas for transforming into your chosen theme.
4. Themed Venues: Some party venues are specifically designed for themed parties, complete with decorations and activities tailored to your chosen theme.
Crafting the Perfect Decor
Once you've settled on a theme and a venue, it's time to get creative with decorations. Here are some ideas to get you started:
1. Balloons: Balloons are a versatile and cost-effective way to add a pop of color and theme-specific elements to your party. Consider helium-filled balloons in the shape of characters or objects from your chosen theme.
2.Table Settings: Use themed plates, cups, and tablecloths to tie the theme together. You can even create centerpieces or name cards that match the theme.
3. Backdrop: A backdrop featuring the theme's colors and characters can serve as a focal point for photographs and add a touch of magic to your party.
4. Party Favors: Send guests home with small party favors related to the theme, such as stickers, mini toys, or costume accessories.
Exciting Party Activities
No themed birthday party is complete without engaging activities that keep the children entertained. Tailor your activities to the theme you've chosen:
Treasure Hunt: Perfect for a pirate-themed party, create a treasure map and hide "treasures" around the venue for the children to find.
Craft Stations: Set up craft stations where kids can create theme-related items, such as princess tiaras, superhero masks, or space-themed art.
Character Visits: Consider hiring a professional performer to dress up as a character from the theme and entertain the kids.
Themed Games: Adapt classic party games like musical chairs or pin the tail on the donkey to fit your theme. For example, it could be "Save the Princess" or "Rescue the Stolen Treasure."
The Sweetest Part: The Cake
No themed birthday party would be complete without a show-stopping cake that ties everything together. Whether you're a baking pro or prefer to leave it to the experts, the cake is an essential element. You can opt for a cake decorated with characters from your chosen theme or get creative with cake toppers and edible decorations.
Final Thoughts
Creating an enchanting world for your child through a themed birthday party is a labor of love that your little one will cherish forever. It's about more than just the decorations and cake; it's about making magical memories that will last a lifetime.
So, embrace the opportunity to let your child's imagination run wild, pick the perfect theme, find the ideal party venue in Australia, and get ready to host a birthday celebration that your child will talk about for years to come. Happy party planning!

With that said, its often better to buy good quality badminton racquets because they require less restringing. In addition, good quality shuttlecocks dont easily lose their shuttlecock feathers, allowing your kids to play with ease for a longer period of time. Some people prefer using plastic shuttles for practice, but its better to ask your kids coach when it comes to which shuttlecock to buy.

Planet X is truly out of this world! Love the place! Great for my kids. The staff are amazing, very helpful, always good for a chat and really know what they are doing both on the trampolines and off! They do coaching classes, fitness classes and all round fun for freestylers!
