These days, most major cities and regional centres offer recreational circus classes as a great way to have fun, get fit and learn amazing new skills.
Why circus is the best sport you never knew you could learn:
1. Learn Awesome Skills
More than just clowns, circus includes a huge variety of incredible skills that are fun to learn and great party tricks to have up your sleeve. Many people have tried juggling, hooping or handstands, but may not have had the pleasure of trying trapeze, spinning plates, unicycling, aerial silks or others of the myriad skills that make up a circus. Learn a bit of everything, or focus on one unique skill – it’s up to you! Check out this video for inspiration:"
["content"]=>
string(2133) "
2. Improve coordination, balance, strength and flexibility
On top of the satisfaction in mastering exciting new skills, circus is a fun way for kids to improve coordination and basic motor skills like balancing, catching, hand eye coordination, strength, proprioception and flexibility. It’s non-competitive, making it a great option even for kids who aren’t particularly confident in their abilities to improve at their own pace. There are a wide variety of skills, each requiring different interests and abilities, so all our students are able to find something they like and can excel at.
3. Join A Community
There is no direct competition in circus classes, they are very community oriented with everyone supporting and motivating each other to get better. Our students make friends and form connections with people from a diverse range of ages and backgrounds, both in class and at events, workshops & festivals.
4. Learn Awareness of Surroundings
Contrary to stereotypes, circus is all about safety. Because we do a lot of things that could be dangerous if poorly executed, it’s essential to have regular conversations about how to manage the risks. Instead of telling kids “no, don’t do that”, we teach them to identify and manage safety concerns so they can learn even the most difficult of tricks safely.
5. Rise to Challenges
Circus is a journey, with lots of small challenges and wins. Students learn to persist through frustration and work through their fears to develop confidence, self-control and intrinsic motivation. We give our students the skills they need to grow, explaining what they need to do to achieve great progress – and they rise to the challenge!

string(1214) "A lot of people feel it's difficult to stay fit and healthy during any holiday season. With Christmas coming up, here are the top four tips to staying healthy over the Christmas holiday.
4. Stay Active
There are things to do over Christmas that don’t just involve a couch and a glass of wine. Try to stay as active as possible. Even play with your kids and their new toys as that is a low intensity exercises that burns fat. What’s not to enjoy about that?
3. Moderate the Alcohol and Don’t Mix with Food
Have a few glasses, but try not to over-indulge. Christmas booze is a big factor in holiday weight. If you’re a wine drinker, try adding a little diet soda water to your glass. Not only will it reduce your over-all calories but it will leave you a little fresher come the alarm the next morning. If you’re a beer drinker, try switching to bottles or having a drink of water in-between schooners. Not only will this reduce calories, but it will keep you nice and hydrated. Remember, dehydration is a cause of stress which can lead to fat storage."
["content"]=>
string(2855) "
There is also an effect that alcohol has on how you digest your food. Alcohol is a separate energy source to usual food containing protein, carbs and fats, and it contains its own calories. As you drink alcohol, your body senses it in your system and turns it into your primary energy source. As you drink, you burn the alcohol as fuel. Doesn’t sound too bad, until you eat hot chips at the end of the night and all the now unnecessary calories from fat and carbs are stored as body fat. I’m not saying it’s good to eat anyway, but at least you’d usually burn some of it off as you eat it.
It could make a big difference in how you look and feel come the New Year. Stay hydrated!
2. Keep Training
Training increases your daily calorie expenditure, meaning that more of the calories you eat over Christmas will simply be burnt off. If you stay in an energy burning state you’ll get away with eating more of the wrong things, having a massive impact on how you’ll look come January. You can of course tone it down in and around the key festive days, but try to maintain your fitness and muscle structure over the season by getting to a gym when you can (and maybe doing nothing anyway).
You can leave it to have to pick up the pieces in January, or maintain your health and fitness by attending maybe 1 or 2 fitness classes a week.
3. Train like you Eat
The one thing that can be said about Christmas feasts are that they can support the growth of muscle. You should know by now that muscle is the main variable in your metabolism, so adding some muscle in December will really help you stay lean and increase your fat loss efforts significantly come January.
I wouldn’t expect everyone to take it to this extreme, but some gyms actually allow you to train on Christmas Day and offer 24-hour access during this time!
By training muscles hard and burning all their stored carbohydrates you can eat loads of chicken, turkey, ham and stuffing guilt free. The proteins contained in the meats are helping regrow the muscle fibres you've just trained. The high GI carbs in the potatoes and stuffing etc are used to replenish my lost glycogen stores, instead of hanging around the body waiting to be turned into fat. It takes any guilt out of feasting, and actually serves a purpose. It’s a Christmas Miracle.

Pilates is a form of exercise developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. It is a physical fitness system intended to strengthen the mind and the body as Joseph Pilates believed that mental and physical health are connected. He also believes that Pilates uses the mind to control the muscles. In 1934, he discussed in his book, Your Health, about his concern with the state of kids health. He said that kids are always sitting in chairs, adults always telling them to remain quiet in one corner when they naturally need to be physically active.
Pilates have six principles namely: concentration, control, centre, flow, precision, and breathing. All of these are essential methods for Pilates to be practised effectively.
If they are not into sports, you can still ensure your kids fitness by getting them to exercise regularly. One form of exercise that will benefit their well-being is a fun fitness Pilates. Kids love imitating their parents so if they see you doing Pilates, they might be interested too.

Is Pilates for your kids?
Pilates is designed to build muscle strength, body awareness, and most of all a healthy mind. It also helps reduce stress and gives a positive outlook in life. Encouraging your kids to be physically active at a young age can develop into good health & fitness habits. Some more benefits of Pilates are as follows:
Weight Management
Exercising encourages kid to lead a healthy lifestyle. It also helps avoid obesity.
Balance
Improved posture and coordination result to better balancing skills. It will be easier for little kids to learn how to walk if they start Pilates early.
Flexibility
The three aspects of fitness are cardiovascular strength, muscular strength, and flexibility. Pilates can help foster flexibility by doing some stretches and other positions. This can be useful in other activities like dancing, gymnastics, ballet, or even just playing at the playground.
Good Posture
Having a bad posture can cause back pain. Pilates involves having proper posture. Along good posture comes a pleasing personality and more self-confidence.
Body Awareness
Through exercises like Pilates, kids gain a better understanding of how their bodies work.
Kids as young as 2 years old can already start doing Pilates. You and your kids can attend Pilates classes together. You can enrol them to a gym for kids near you so they can be taught how to start Pilates by a trained instructor. There are some Pilates exercises for children that are easy enough to do at home if you have a mat. You can be their personal instructor or you can watch some exercise videos and try to teach the simple exercises to your kids. It is also sometimes taught in school as part of Physical Education or as a daily morning routine.
Another type of exercise for the body and the mind is yoga for kids. It is a physical, mental, and spiritual discipline which aims to achieve spiritual serenity through meditation. You can look through our ActiveActivities Directory for a list of Pilates and yoga classes available in Australia and other tips for exercising and other activities for kids.
Medical studies have proven that Pilates and yoga are also recommended for kids with physical and mental disabilities like autism, ADD/ADHD, and Down's syndrome. Practising these methods will help them be calm as well as develop concentration skills.
Along with Pilates, your kids also need to be physically active by engaging into sports and other kids activities. Do remember that Pilates is just a means, not an end; practising Pilates can help your kids become physically and mentally prepared for other activities. Encourage them to start Pilates!

Tai Chi is (or T'ai-chi Ch'uan) an ancient Chinese martial art which dates back to the 6th Century BC. It is practised by people of all ages for self-defence training as well as for its health improvement. Tai Chi is an internal martial art, focusing the mind on Tai Chi movements that helps bring about mental calmness and clarity. It is also a good form of stress management.

Is Tai Chi a great activity for you kids?
Health and fitness for kids is a great concern among parents. It is important that parents get their children engaged in activities for kids that will not only benefit their physical health, but also their mental wellbeing. Active and healthy kids are happy kids. Tai Chi for kids can give your toddlers the health and fitness benefits they need!
Tai Chi movements are characterised by use of force through the joints based on relaxation and coordination, instead of muscular tension. The movements help open the internal circulation. Tai Chi involves three aspects: health, meditation, martial art.
Health and Fitness
Tai Chi for kids is a good activity for your children as it involves health training. It concentrates on relieving both the mind and body stress that they may have gotten from school activities. Tai Chi also improves balance, coordination and flexibility. It also serves as a non-competitive form of exercise for children.
Meditation
The meditative aspect of Tai Chi promotes focus and calmness. Meditation for kids can help them improve learning and focus in all things, especially sports and academics.
Martial Art Martial arts for kids teach children self-defence, something that they can use especially when they are on their own. Tai Chi?s principle is to yield an incoming attack instead of using a counterattack. Furthermore, unlike other martial arts, which can pose some safety concerns for your child, Tai Chi is a perfectly safe activity for kids.
Some tai chi workshops that are targeted especially for children simplify some Tai Chi movements so that they?re easier to follow. Traditional forms of tai chi can be more challenging, but as your kid begins to learn and experience more about how Tai Chi is done, he or she can advance to doing more advanced forms of the activity.
There are many different styles of Tai Chi, like Cheng Man-ch'ing, Yang, Wu, and Temple. Give your child a try in a introductory class, and you'll see what will work for you and for your children the best. Some classes are focused more on using Tai Chi as an exercise, while other classes are focused more on Tai Chi as a martial art.
Always check your Tai Chi master?s references to know about his or her background. Some instructors can provide certifications for their skills.
Tai Chi for kids can help discipline your toddlers? minds, build strength, and maintain flexibility. It is also a great way to channel your kids? energy, and an effective outlet for their stress and frustrations. Tai Chi is an activity that provides all the benefits that most external martial arts and sports do not provide.
The best time to practice Tai Chi is in the morning, right after waking up. It will wake the muscles and start the energy flowing throughout your body. Certain tai chi movements like the ?energy ball" are also good before sleeping so that the body can relax and sleep easier.

For many of us this means settling back into work while juggling the countless trips to and from the stationery and uniform shops to get the kids ready for another year of school.
On top of that, at some point about three weeks ago, your son or daughter looked up at you with big puppy dog eyes and said "I want to start dancing." It has been at the forefront of their imagination and nag-ation (that's not really a word but it means constant nagging) and now you're convinced that it's what they really want to do."

So, you sit down and google "Dance Classes Northern Suburbs" and BAM! You're hit with more than 15 dance schools in your area and that's just on the first page. It all seems too overwhelming and you're wondering if you can plonk your child in front of the TV watching reruns of Dance Academy instead.
No, you can't and you don't have to. All you need is your five senses and if you like everything you see, hear, smell, touch and taste, then you've got a winner!
SIGHT
Make sure you sit in and watch your child's first dance lesson. It is important that you see what goes on in the classroom. Things to look out for are; is the class structured? Does the teacher have control of the room?
Take in your teachers' body language - is he/she warm and inviting to the students?
Most importantly look at your own child. Are they comfortable and are they actively being included by the teacher and the other students?
Look at the other students coming and going to class. Are they leaving the studio elated, smiling and laughing? Or do they seem defeated and down?
Is it safe? Would you feel comfortable leaving your child there for an hour or more each week?
Are they using safe dance practices i.e. warm ups, cool downs and teaching the correct technique to prevent injuries?
HEARING
Listen for positive reinforcement and encouragement. Remember that corrections are a good thing but if you hear criticisms that aren't constructive, it might not be a very positive environment.
Listen to the music. Are you comfortable with what's coming out of the speakers? Is it age appropriate? Are the kids engaged? Do they enjoy dancing to it?
Ask around! Pop your head into the parents room and hear what the other mums are saying. Ask them why they picked this school. It pays to be nosy!
Now it's just as important to take note of who's hearing you. Did the staff at the school listen and acknowledge all of your questions or concerns?
Is your child being heard? Will he/she feel confident to put her hand up and ask questions in class?
TOUCH
This one is a little abstract but I think it's one of the most important. When investigating dance schools you need to get physical. I would never recommend a child to sit and observe their trial class. They need to be up and giving it a go. It may seem like throwing them in the deep end but watching a class is usually more intimidating and leaves them feeling even more nervous about coming back the following week (that's if they want to come back at all). Remind them that it is normal to feel nervous and that being the beginning of term, they probably aren't the only first timer in the room.
SMELL
This may seem a bit silly but smell is important.
When you arrived did the studio smell clean and looked after? While this is good for hygiene and preventing the spread of germs that kids bring in from childcare and school, it also shows that the staff care about the studio and its patrons. Clean and tidy is a reflection of a great work ethic and that's what you should be able to expect from your dance teachers.
TASTE
Now I'm not going to suggest that you literally go and lick the floor of the dance studio. Unless you think that would help then by all means...
It is so important that you get a real taste for the school before you pay any fees or sign any forms. Go to as many free trials and open days as you can. Ask to watch classes or even go along to any upcoming performances the school might be having. Trust your instinct here. Usually, if it feels right then it is right but don't forget to find out how your child feels about the school too. While something might seem logical because of the price and the location it still might not be the right fit for them. Your child's happiness and well being should always be the priority.
By picking the perfect dance school you are the picking the place where you will watch your child's confidence grow and where they will meet their best friends. You are picking their solace, the place they look forward to going to after a long day of school. You will have your dance school to thank for all the years of blood, sweat, tears, laughter, fond memories and that cupboard full of childhood costumes that you won't be able to bring yourself to throw away.
So use your five senses wisely and pick the perfect dance school for your child.

Is ballooning in South Australia a good idea your kids?
Hot air balloons were invented in France in 1783. The passengers of this first balloon flight were a sheep, a duck and a rooster. The first manned balloon flight was made in the same year with two men in the balloon. It was launched from the middle of Paris and flew for 20 minutes. This was the first attempt made by man to fly and the birth of hot air ballooning. Everyone can now drift with the breeze and fly! Ballooning in South Australia with your kids will be worthwhile as there are numerous balloon flights packages in different places that you can choose from. Some of the most popular spots for ballooning in South Australia are Adelaide region and Flinders Ranges.

Karate: The Classic Favorite
Karate is like the classic vanilla ice cream of martial arts. It's widely known and respected, and for good reason! Karate focuses on strikes and powerful movements that teach kids self-discipline, respect, and confidence. The kiai shouts might remind you of your favorite action movies, but it's not all about showing off. Karate helps children develop strong core muscles and coordination, making it an excellent choice for those who might be a bit uncoordinated (aren't we all at some point?).
Taekwondo: Kicking Up High Fun
If your kid loves to kick, taekwondo might be the way to go. This Korean martial art is famous for its high, fast kicks and acrobatic movements. Your child will learn the art of controlled kicks and punches, all while boosting their flexibility and balance. Taekwondo classes often feel like a mix of dance and martial arts, making it an exciting choice for energetic kids who love a little flair.
Judo: Throws and Tumbles Galore
Is your child always rolling around? Judo could be their calling! Judo emphasizes throws, pins, and grappling techniques that can give your kid a solid foundation in self-defense. Plus, it's fantastic for building strength and endurance. Judo classes often resemble playful wrestling matches, allowing your child to learn how to fall safely and get back up, both on and off the mat.
Jiu-Jitsu: The Ground Game Guru
For those who prefer ground action, Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is like a cozy blanket of martial arts. BJJ focuses on ground grappling, submissions, and leverage-based techniques. Kids will learn to control opponents without relying on size or strength, making it a great choice for building confidence and teaching your child how to handle tricky situations.
Other Martial Arts Coaches & Instructors: Finding the Right Fit
No matter which martial art you choose, the instructor's style and teaching philosophy play a huge role in your child's experience. Look for coaches who understand how to work with kids—those who blend discipline with encouragement and keep the classes engaging. It's a bonus if the instructor has experience teaching children, as they'll be better equipped to tailor their lessons to match your child's needs.
Other Martial Arts Classes & Lessons: Try Before You Commit
Before committing to a particular martial art, consider trying out a few other martial arts classes or lessons. Many dojos or studios offer trial classes where your child can get a taste of the action before fully jumping in. This is a fantastic opportunity to see how your child connects with the martial art, the instructor, and the other kids in the class. Remember, your child's enthusiasm and interest are key to their success and enjoyment!
Kids and Martial Arts: A Winning Combination
Regardless of whether you choose karate, taekwondo, judo, jiu-jitsu, or another martial art, the benefits for your child are vast. Martial arts promote discipline, focus, respect, and self-confidence—all skills that extend beyond the dojo. Plus, it's a great way to keep your kids active and engaged, helping them build a strong foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
In Summary
Choosing the best martial art for your child ultimately depends on their personality, interests, and physical abilities. Karate offers a solid mix of strikes and discipline, taekwondo brings high-flying kicks and style, judo specializes in throws and takedowns, and jiu-jitsu focuses on ground grappling and submissions. Whichever path you choose, remember that a supportive instructor and a welcoming class environment are crucial for your child's success and enjoyment.
So, go ahead and explore the world of martial arts with your child. Try a few classes, see what resonates with them, and let them embark on a journey that not only hones their physical skills but also shapes their character. And who knows, you might even find yourself wanting to join in on the action too!

There are a few different types of archery including sporting archery and traditional archery and these use different bows and techniques (longbow, for example). If archery isn’t quite right for your children, other target sports they might enjoy include darts or even golf!

It is often those children who claim they cannot or don't like drawing, have not met their own or someone else's expectations.
This may cause drawing scars, leading to disappointment, frustration, anxiety, and doubt in their own creative worth.
As you continue to support and nurture your child, the following tips may help & heal, returning them to happy drawers once more."
["content"]=>
string(5545) "
CREATIVE DRAWING TIP NO.1
Start with no imposed limits!
Try and offer a variety of paper sizes
Children should be free to choose their canvas so they can take their ideas to the greatest heights or to the smallest corner of the page.
MORE THAN A SCRIBBLE !
In the stages of learning to draw, children may become interested in the motion & actions of their drawing hand. They then focus on the markings they've created more than the concept of producing images in an initial drawing idea. This naturally develops with age, communication levels & skills.
CREATIVE DRAWING TIP NO.2
Allow for experimenting and discovery.
Provide a variety & combination of tools for your child to choose from, pencils, markers, crayons & chalk etc.
They all feel different to use and each create a unique density of line. There is something new to discover at every tip & there is usually a lot more going on than a mere 'scribble' on the page!
IT IS THEIR IDEA!!
Paper has been selected and a variety of drawing tools are at hand .... Let the drawing begin!!
Often, when children begin to draw, they may have an instant idea and dive right in. Others may take their time or turn to you for inspiration.
CREATIVE DRAWING TIP NO.3
Stimulate their imagination but try to avoid imposing any underlying expectations on their drawing skills.
Your prompts should remain open - ended.
Provide the seeds for growth, with suggestions like: "What did you see on our walk?"
"What did you have for dinner last night?" "What would you wish for?"
Children feel more empowered and value their creative worth, if they genuinely believe their drawing has evolved from their own ideas.
IT BEGINS !
The light bulb flashes & the drawing begins !
Children's capacity to imagine develops with communication skills. Their ideas can stem from a prompt, an experience, a picture, or story .
Whilst expressing their imagination, children become focused on reproducing their ideas as THEY SEE THEM and not as you see them !
CREATIVE DRAWING TIP NO.4
Step away from their drawing & remove the judge & jury.
Avoid imposing your ideas on their drawing.
Allow your child to explore their own ideas in their own way !!
TAKING SHAPE!
As children become engaged in their drawings, their ideas take shape and images leap out of the page. The final "masterpiece" is proudly presented to you, in anticipation of your praise. Some of the images in their drawing are obvious & easily recognisable. Others well...you tilt your head at the page as you try and decipher what you see.
CREATIVE DRAWING TIP NO.5
As you discuss your child's drawing, offer open-ended comments.
Avoid the 'empty praising' such as "That's good!” Nice dog? "
Try responding with positive but neutral declarations. "That looks interesting, what's happening?" "Tell me about those squiggly bits.”
These types of prompts may provide opportunities for your child to openly share the details of their drawing, without you imposing your thoughts on what you see, or don't see......You'll be surprised by their answers !!!!
"I'M SURE ! "
How often does your child present their drawings with proud affirmation, loudly declaring "I've finished !" ? It is your responses at this pivotal moment, that can make or break your child's drawing confidence & enthusiasm. It may seem obvious to you that there is a big space in the top corner. You think that dog look- a-like thing down over there needs a tail and the tree is missing leaves & a bird's nest, so we then usually reply with " Are you sure?"- A hopeful question in trying to get your child to see what you see ! This may cast doubt & uncertainty and can knock any drawing esteem right off the paper !
CREATIVE DRAWING TIP NO.6
Once your child has finished their drawing and you have allowed them to share what they have drawn from their perspective, accept it for what it is.
Your child believes this drawing at this time; IS finished & it does not need anything added that YOU believe is missing!
Your child will feel empowered if their decisions & choices are respected.
It's their drawing and not yours & most of the time, they ARE sure they've drawn all that they wanted to!
GOOD LUCK, HAPPY FUN CREATIVE DRAWING ....

["overview"]=>
string(436) "
I thought I’d start with the most obvious point. Music is fun to learn! When you are able to play an instrument, you have a lot of fun because you can play the songs you love and your appreciation of music increases. You are also more likely to be inspired as you have the skill to be able to start writing songs and play with other musicians. So it is a very positive experience.
2. It’s a great way to meet new people.
Learning to play a musical instrument gives you the opportunity to meet people with similar interests. As such, it is a fantastic way to socialize and develop new friendships. In addition, playing music with others develops teamwork skills. This is because you need to be an active listener when playing in a group scenario.
3. It builds your self-confidence
When you learn to play a musical instrument and start seeing results, you start to get more confident. When you achieve the skill of playing a piece of music, you get the confidence to believe you can even get better. This confidence boost also spills to other areas of your life where you may feel a lack of confidence.
4. Develops your patience
Learning to play a musical instrument requires patience. The reality is that when you first start, you will likely not see results immediately. It takes practice to see improvement. As such, you need to be patient and practice daily. Therefore, when you learn a musical instrument, you become a more patient individual because you need this virtue to succeed.
5. Enhances your creative ability
When you learn to play a musical instrument, you learn skills such as song writing and improvisation. Improvisation is creating music on the spot based on learned scales. This develops your creative juices as it stimulates the creative part of your brain. Developing these creative juices is also important for other parts of your life such as your work or school life.
6. Teaches you self-discipline
As mentioned earlier, to learn a musical instrument requires a lot of work! Without practice, the chances of you succeeding are next to none. So, one of the most important traits that learning a musical instrument develops is discipline. This is because you have to be disciplined to practice regularly in order to see results and in turn succeed. This discipline involves committing to a regular daily practice of at least 30 minutes per day.
7. Boosts your memory
There are two areas that develop your memory when you learn a musical instrument:
a) Physically: Learning a musical instrument develops your motor skills. Your brain develops motor/muscle memory and that’s how you improve your skills. b) Intellectually: Learning music develops your memory as you have to remember such things as the note names, chords, musical signs etc.
8. Brings with it a sense of achievement
As we have seen from the points written above, learning a musical instrument is not always easy. As we said, it requires patience and discipline. But the good thing about it is, when you succeed, you get this great sense of achievement. This in turn, makes you a very happy person with goals you want to continue to achieve.
9. Reduces your stress levels
All of us these days live stressful lives that can easily get us down. Learning a musical instrument is a wonderful activity for time out and to forget about all your worries. When you play a piece of music on your instrument, you can emotionally escape into the feel and expression of the song and find time to truly relax and unwind.
10. Improves cognitive skills
Yep! Music makes you clever! Much research has been done that proves that children who learn a musical instrument do better academically at school than children that do not have the opportunity to do so. Learning music works on both sides of the brain: the right hemisphere of the brain is the creative side and the left hemisphere is the logical/academic side. This academic side of the brain is very important when learning music. This is because music is actually mathematical. It features things like musical notes of different values, bars that need to contain notes of exact value, time signatures etc. Think of it…quite amazing that I play a musical instrument. I was not exactly the brightest student in mathematics at school!

Is art school right for your kids?
Regular schools focus mostly on stimulating the left side of the brain, which controls logic. To help balance this, art is sometimes incorporated into kids activities during class time, especially in preschool. But is that enough? If you think your child has the potential to become the next Picasso, or you just want to introduce them to as many options as you can, think about enrolling them in an art school that offers programmes after school hours or during school holidays.
According to a recent study, children who attend art school and participate in art exhibit signs of improved:
Observation skills
Inventiveness
Self-expression
Problem solving
Self-reflection and self-improvement abilities
Art activities for kids stimulate both the left and right sides of the brain. This helps kids develop essential life skills, including:
Confidence
Perseverance
Focus
Acceptance of constructive feedback
Ability to collaborate
Dedication
Responsibility
Enrol your kids in an art school!
Art can be anything that is a product of creative expression. It can refer to art classes that focus on drawing, painting, and crafts. When you enrol your kids in an art school, they will have access to a variety of art classes. As they progress, they can choose which medium appeals to them most and what they want to focus on.
Some art schools take place in kids art studios, and some take place in a classroom setting. Membership usually includes the required art supplies, but if not you can pick supplies up from an arts and crafts shop or bookstore.
Art schools usually run through the school holidays. If your kids would prefer a shorter programme, there are also art clubs for kids that hold weekly meetings weekly and casual sessions. Some kids organisations also run art programmes like art camps, which usually lasts one or two days.
If you want to take a more hands on approach and spend some quality time with your kids, you can enjoy art activities with them through an online art school. Online art schools provide art lesson plans so you can teach and supervise your kids while they get creative.
Foster the creativity in your kids by sending them to an art school!

Ballet has been prominent in Australia since the early 1900s, when an ongoing dance exchange between Australia, England and Russia began.
After World War II, the Borovansky Ballet dominated until it was reformed as the Australian Ballet in 1962?the busiest ballet company in the world, regularly touring all the major Australian cities.
Now there are state-supported companies as well as numerous private ballet companies.

Is Ballet Dancing for Your Kids?
Ballet dancing is a physically demanding art form and requires physical and mental discipline and practice. It thus develops many skills and has numerous benefits, including:
Promotes strength, flexibility, coordination and balance
Helps posture in many children
Teaches skill, grace, poise, self-discipline
Fosters self-confidence and positive self-image
Promotes a love of the arts
Develops a passion for rhythm and movement
Encourages friendships with children of like interests
Get Your Kids Started!
In most cases kids do not start formal ballet lessons until the age of eight, though they can attend Pre School dance classes from quite young. Here they learn to enjoy music and may learn some basic ballet positions. Generally, these types of classes are more on fun and the parents seeing their child participating rather than them starting their formal ballet journey.
For children who seriously aspire to be dancers, The Australian Ballet School holds auditions in each of the major cities every year for after-school training of 8-13 year olds and for full-time training of 13 or 14 year old children.
What to look for when checking out a ballet school
Professional set-up
Qualified teachers and experience
Appropriate flooring and bars
Class size suited to your Childs needs
Reasonably prices
Follows Royal Academy of Dance syllabus
Enters the competitions that you are interested in competing in
As well as tuition fees, which vary with the school and the location but are usually in the vicinity of $15 a lesson, your child will need:
leotard - Around $15-30
tights? Approximately $10
ballet shoes - Around $20-30
A tutu may make your little girl look and feel like a ballerina but is not always compulsory.
Always check with the teacher before buying clothing; many schools have their own strict dress codes or follow those of the Royal Academy of Dance(RAD). Prices really can vary depending on quality and where you buy. Buying from the school is often convenient but can be more expensive.
Most little girls love pink, dancing and being a little ballerina. Most mums love seeing their daughters doing ballet. So get them dancing, no matter what age they start.
Events not to be missed
If your child has any inclination towards ballet, attendance at a live performance will certainly inspire him or her, though the Australian Ballet recommends that children be at least six years old to attend. Prices vary with the company, the performance, the location, seating, and any concessions available but are similar to those for opera and other live entertainment. Also keep an eye out for occasional free events, such as Telstra Ballet in the Gardens.
For all those reasons, Ballet Dancing is one of the ultimate kids activities!

The facility was great and the staff super helpful and my nephews and nieces loved it!
Royals provided a structured and safe program that brought a different, exciting and entertaining experience for the little ones and I've been taking them back ever since.
I would very highly recommend trying out some of the Cheer and Dance classes at Royals!

Gone are the days of having to borrow an old smelly uniform just to try out a class.
Our family has been going to Guests Martial Arts for around 12 years... Husband trains with the adults, I do fitness kickboxing and all 3 boys started as a ninja stars and are working their way through the kids program. We love this program because it is fun, it's very inclusive (EVERYONE is welcome!), they learn incredibly important self defence skills (with the goal to always just be doing whatever you can to get away from a situation) and it's holistic (with it also focusing on things like how to be a good friend etc).
We actually travel quite a long way to keep coming to these classes instead of going anywhere local because I've never seen anywhere that offers ALL of the above closer to home.
Highly recommend Guests Martial Arts!
Answer from Guests Martial Arts on 03-11-2024:
